The University has four different types of accommodation
available, University-Managed Student Accomodations, University
Collegiate Halls, Shared house and Homestay. And staying in one
of the many campuses or homestays is another option for the intenational
student. This being a convenient solution to their accommodation
problems but it often works out to be more expensive than renting
your own accommodation or sharing a private accommodation with a
friend.
The advantages of staying on campus
include not worrying about paying phone, gas or electrical bills,
being close to the university, most have bus services to and from
the university, chance to mingle with students of other nationalitites
and make make friends as well as having the option of having meals
provided for hence not having to worry about grocery shopping or
preparing the next meal.
The disadvantages of staying on
campus include the need to share the toilet or kitchen with alot
of people who may not be considerate, meal times are fixed. Therefore
if you miss your meal time you would have to find a way to settle
your own meal. Most of the time, they only serve pasta, so if you
don't mind having pasta for virtually every meal you would not have
any problems with the food. Staying on campus often works out to
be much more expensive than getting your own place, and if your
the kind that loves some peace and quite then your better off getting
your own place as it could be very noisy at times.
